About Us - Alistair Ede - Proprietor

Alistair previously ran a boarding kennels and cattery in Louth (Lincolnshire) but this is his new venture that he sees as having huge potential. He says, “When I started at my old kennels I had an occupancy level of 30%, when I left it was 95%.” The kennels here are fairly unknown at present but it is a fantastic site. The kennels are in the countryside in nice, peaceful surroundings. “They have been good but are going to get so much better.”

His future plans to develop the business include establishing a shop and reception area where customers can pick up pet accessories, toys and nutritious feed, all at very competitive rates – even compared to the big supermarkets. This is something Alistair treats as a service to his clients, saving them time travelling elsewhere.

The site on Fen Road currently has 34 kennels but there are plans to increase capacity to 48. This is coupled with Alistair’s professional approach in which he believes in the age-old phrase, “The customer is always right.” His 9 members of staff have been recruited to provide one-to-one care and cater for any specialised diets.

Alistair added, “Whatever the client wants we will go with. I have known requests for Weetabix in the morning with a cup of tea!.” We want the owners to know their animals will be looked after properly.”

He understands owners often worry about leaving their pets with unknown kennels or catteries or have to rely on the goodwill of friend and family. Open all year round, prospective clients are welcome to drop in to look around the excellent facilities to put their mind at ease.

Should your pet fall ill during its stay, staff will only use your own preferred veterinary practice. With comprehensive insurance, two veterinary nurses on the team and a wealth of experience, owners can rest assured that their pets will more likely be enjoying a well-earned holiday too.

Pets will be able to run and exercise freely within two safe, enclosed grass paddocks or under cover in a third enclosure in the event of poor weather.  There are zones for animals preferring peace and quiet or they can listen to music if they prefer. They can be pampered in the grooming parlour and even watch TV while they wait!

As well as cats and dogs, Ruskington Boarding Kennels have the capability and experience to look after rabbits, guinea pigs, ducks and tortoises.

The images of boarding kennels from as little as 15 years ago are gone. If you want a thoroughly professional and satisfying service for your pet, come to Ruskington Boarding Kennels where you and your animal’s interests always come first.

Ruskington Boarding Kennels is undergoing a fantastic transformation having come under new ownership.

Alistair Ede took over the going concern in July 2008 and has great plans to bring the business into the 21st Century to meet the needs of the modern pet owner.
